About Erik
A lifelong guitarist, educator — and student
I'm Erik Davis — a lifelong guitarist, educator, and student! I am humbled and grateful to be able to help students of all ages and levels build confidence, skill, and musical freedom through personalized, practical lessons.
With over 38 years of professional teaching experience, I provide top-tier instruction in a safe and fun learning environment — in person at my home studio, or online in the comfort and convenience of your own home.
Over the decades, I've taught many kids that started with me in elementary school and took lessons all the way through college! And adult students that started from scratch in their 70's and 80's!
The pedigree
Musicians Institute, class of 1991
Erik trained at one of the world's premier contemporary music schools, studying under guitar virtuosos:
- Jennifer Batten — guitarist for Michael Jackson and Jeff Beck
- Steve Trovato — country/jazz virtuoso and educator
- Nick Nolan — session guitarist and MI instructor
- Norman Brown — Grammy-winning jazz guitarist

Why it matters
Teaching is the job — not what happens between gigs
Plenty of guitar teachers are working musicians first and teachers second — lessons get rescheduled around rehearsals, tours, and Friday-night shows. Erik made a different choice a long time ago: teaching is his profession.
For you, that means a consistent weekly slot that doesn’t move, a teacher who has spent 38+ years refining how to actually get skills into students’ hands, and someone whose full creative energy goes into your progress.
Everyone learns differently, and Erik understands how to connect with his students and teach them in the way that is best suited for them.

The teacher can still burn
Hit play. Tasty soulful playing combining elements of rock, blues and fusion — blues on a shell-pink Suhr, and a PRS goldtop, filmed in the studio. More on YouTube: youtube.com/@davisdungeon
